About Us

Creating healthier urban spaces in harmony with nature.

With 28 years of experience in urban tree planting, GreenBlue Urban pride itself on its industry-leading expertise, experience, and proven track record of successful projects. GreenBlue Urban researches and provides solutions for green infrastructure challenges in our cities. Since our company’s establishment in 1992, we’ve been assisting trees in their battle to establish in urban areas across the globe. With the goal of drastically improving urban planting success and increasing leaf canopy in our cities, we tirelessly analyzed the challenges, causes of failure and reasons for premature mortality in urban trees. We then examined the impact that poor planting can have on urban infrastructure. Having identified the key issues in both of these areas, we systematically researched solutions and designed practical products and systems to address them.

Local authorities, landscape architects, engineers and other related professionals increasingly turn to GreenBlue for guidance and best practice advice on tree planting implementation. As North America’s market leader in urban landscape products and specialist tree pit systems, we are able to offer more than 20 years of frontline experience in the field, exhaustive research, product development and field trials. Our support service, unrivaled in the tree-planting world, can help you to achieve your vision.

Based in Ontario and Tennessee, GreenBlue Urban North America has grown every year since its inception and operates distribution networks across North America. Our program of continuous product development, conducted in conjunction with overseas partners, ensures that specifiers and clients can rest assured that the systems we offer for green infrastructures and urban planting schemes represent the very best in the sector.

Formerly operating in North America as Citygreen Urban, we changed our company name to GreenBlue at the beginning of 2015. The reason for this change was to deeper express our passion for green infrastructure, sustainable stormwater management, and complimenting street furnishings. Our new name and logo were created with the subliminal message of trees and water linked in cities creating GreenBlue Urban, in order to better represent this vision.

Soil Cell Pioneers

The concept behind soil cells was first developed by GreenBlue in 1992. Over the next eight years, we developed unique products to help new trees establish. In 2001, our UK branch installed the first tree pit using proprietary developed soil cells to provide uncompacted soil volume for root growth underneath a paved surround. The system was publicly launched in 2002, and was the world’s first application utilizing soil support cells for tree planting and became the model for all future soil cell modules. Since then, we have continued to lead the green infrastructure industry and innovate the landscape architecture profession with unparalleled urban landscape products and tree planting systems.
